Paperhead is a fast-paced indie first-person shooter (FPS) with retro-style shooting, movement-based combat, and puzzle-solving. Stepping into the game, you explore an abandoned research facility and have to constantly move around the place to fight against dangerous alien robots and uncover the mystery. You explore the facility from a first-person perspective, fight hostile paper-crafted enemies, and search for clues that reveal what happened there. Combat is deliberately chaotic: you can blast enemies with a shotgun, kick them into the air, stomp on them, or turn explosive barrels against them.
Begin by exploring the corridors, rooms, and other areas of the research facility. But be careful! You can encounter enemies anywhere, at any moment. Keep an eye out for notes, hidden secrets, and environmental clues that help you understand the story.
Combat in Paperhead is not about standing in one place and trading shots with enemies. You have to keep moving to avoid incoming attacks and create better opportunities to strike. Jump, use the environment for cover, … to stay safe from incoming fire! Of course, staying mobile makes it harder for enemies to corner you, particularly when several opponents attack at once.
Your shotgun is one of your primary weapons for dealing direct damage to hostile enemies. Still, shooting isn't your only option; the game also lets players use powerful boots to attack enemies: kick and/or stomp them. Another method is to kick explosive barrels to cause additional damage.
